John Terry

Served an LDS Mission to Thailand ('75-'77), stopped in Israel on the way home and was inspired to learn Hebrew, then Greek (in order to read the scriptures in original languages). Join the Mormon Youth Chorus under Robert C. Bowden until married in '78 (wife is from Detroit, MI). Studied hardware & software in college, started, owned, and managed a software company until it was sold. Studied and became certified in Hypnotherapy ('85). Retired first time in 2006, wrote and published four books on extraordinary experiences. Started a legal publishing company with AZ Courts System and still manage it. Worked as Ordinance Worker in the Provo Temple and now in the Orem Temple. Love life and 17 grandchildren.

I was always a fairly scrawny kid, which is why I signed up for Weight Lifting classes. My favorite sport was Track & Field, where I met and became fast friends with Dave (Bubba) Hart. He threw Shot Put and Discuss and I did the Long Jump. In my senior year, one of the long jumpers told us about an Olympian who was using a summersault while jumping, so we naively started using it during practices. Never could make it work well enough to try it in a live meet, but the idea was awe-inspiring and got us psyched up for the jumps. So much so that in one tri-meet, I jumped a full foot further than I had ever jumped, which broke the school record, until the other jumpers heard how far I jumped, which instantly inspired them and they all jumped even further than my jump!
