Best of luck, Dave. My wife will be undergoing this surgery next month. We have several friends who have undergone the surgery, all with excellent results. They got it down now!

David   Glad to hear everything went well.   I hope your eyesight continues to improve and life gets back to normal.  Whatever normal is. Us old timers need to live each day as if it is our last.  May you have many days and years in front of you.  Don't just live, thrive!

Hey  I just got off the phone with Les Deyoung.

Many of you probably know he was in terrible car accident a few years ago. It left him in a wheelchair and paralyzed from the waist down.

He has a great attitude and with the help of his wife Vivian they make the most out of each and everyday. Les still lives with constant pain which hasn’t gotten any better over time.

Les and I go way back. We met at Wasatch Jr. High School. He  comes from a wonderful family. His mom got Les and I good paying summer jobs at Hill Field watering trees.  Funnest  job I ever had.

People were always somewhat in shock when they saw two 6’8” giants walking down the road watering trees only wearing shorts. That was our summer dress code.

We talked about getting together for lunch. Les was ok if I invited anyone from our graduating class to join us.

We our planing on having lunch at the Midvale Mining Cafe on January 23rd at 2:00.  It is located at 390 W 7200 S Midvale.

If you can make it please text me at (801) 376-9727.

Thanks and it will good to see old classmates again.

Greetings from SE Texas (where it is "supposed" to be warm).  The deep freeze blowing straight down from the Arctic Ocean has taken over and the very cold weather is upon us.  Yesterday morning it was 30F at dawn and this morning it was 27F.  Tomorrow morning we are supposed to wake up to about 5 to 8inches of SNOW on the ground. and Wednesday morning it will be about 20F at dawn.  Supposed to be below freezing from about 10:00 tonight until early afternoon Wednesday.  Houses down here are not built for this kind of weather; maybe 20 degree differential (like in summer), but definitely not 50 degree differential like we will see .

I am getting too old for this crap.  :(

Dave, when we were in school my mom had a place in Park City. When it got real cold we would run a trickle of water to keep the pipes from freezing. When we lived in Houston in1981 to 1983 we had a cold snap hit. I was out that night and noticed water was freezing. So when I got home  let a little water trickle all night. Next morning woke up, took a shower and headed out. That's when I saw all my neighbors with water/ice on their driveway everyone with broken pipes. We offered out home so they could have water and bathe their kids. We all had young kids. So let a little water trickle tonight to avoid frozen pipes in the morning. Stay warm my friend.

The snow here was forecast to start at midnight last night.  At first it was just a bit of ice crystals. When i woke up this morning, I find about one inch of accumulation and that it is actively snowing.  Still just crystals.  Not the snowflakes that one imagines.  Temperature fell to about 25F and it is currently a balmy 27.  Supposed to snow until about 9:00 am and then it moves off to the east.  Tomorrow morning, we will be down to 20-21F or so.

I always dribble the faucets when it is like this.  And we set the washer and dishwasher to run in the very early morning, just to keep water moving.  And our pool has a "freeze protection" setup.  It automatically turns on the pump and the pump for the pool cleaner if the air temperature goes down to below 38.  And the heater will come on if the water temperature goes below 50F.  Again, moving water does not freeze as readily.

So all is well this morning.  I will go check on my neighbors in a bit and make sure they are all doing okay.  And by Saturday it will be back to normal for January down here; 40s for the low and 60s for the high.......  Winter lasts for days down here, not for months like Utah and the Rockies.  I took some pics.  Will figure out how to post them in a bit.

Hi David. The snow is coming our way. We are expecting 1-3 inches tomorrow. Schools are already closed! That never happened when I was at Wasatch Jr. High or Skyline! I remember walking to school when it was blizzarding. My hair even froze.
When you live at the beach, no one knows how to drive in the snow, so everyone stays home. Thank heavens!
Our pool has the same features as yours. It's amazing to watch it work.
I laugh at how the bread, milk and dog food is gone from the store shelves when they say a snowstorm is coming.
It will be interesting to see how much really falls. ❄️🌨️

My cousin and our classmate Tom Stout passed away last week. A celebration of life will be held this Saturday March 15th. The link to his obituary is in the "In Memory" section. I know he enjoyed meeting up with his friends, especially his football player friends, at our 50th reunion. God speed.

Oh noo, what happened to him? Had he been ill?    I remember when he moved here.  He was darling!  This is sad!  I'm sure terribly hard for you.
Thank you Richard for posting.  It was so good to see you at the reunion.  You haven't changed a bit.  I have great memories of you.

Robert Olson (Olson)

This is Rob Olson and it saddens me everytime I hear of one of our classmates passing.  While I also realize sometimes its just our timt to go.  May I suggest a little bit on Prevention that goes a long way.  How long?  What about an extra 5 years or 10 years or maybe even 1 year.

There is a Heart Test that you can do.  ( No doctors referral necessary ).  It is at St. Marks Hospitol in SLC. It costs around $65.00 dollars.  It is so easy.  Takes less than 10 minutes and you get your results fast.  They are giving you a mini MRI.  Dont Worry!  This one you are in your street clothes and it takes 10 minutes.  It takes pics of you heart looking for the Calcium that could possible be built up.  ( Except Dr Siggurd, because he is in better shape than all of us, oh and Dr. Shuput).

The Phone number is 801-266-3418 or you can make an appointment online at heartcenterutah.com. You can usually make  an appointment most likely within 3 days.  PLEASE PLEASE go and get this done.  You are scored on a scale from 0 to 400.   If its 400 call the Mortuary.  Mine came in at around 50.  My Wife Cynthia came in at 0.83  ( Dang she is living until she is 105 )  Sorry about that.

Ok you have the location and the number.  Please call them and extend your life.  The reason you are receiveing this besides are classmates passing, I had a very dear friend pass away named Randy Barker.

Thanks for reading this.

Oh and if you out of State call your local Hospitol and get this done ASAP

GiGi Galanis (Boryla)

Robert, thank for the information! This is no joke! My husband had the calcium MRI and his came back at 95!  He had two stents put in his heart shortly after that.  Those are no big deal either. It literaly saved his life.  He is in great shape and works out 4 days a week.  This condition is very hereditary. He has since, contacted his siblings about doing this.  Great advice. Thanks, GiGi (Galanis) Boryla.

Death, doctors, dentist and doing.
My 69 year old class mates, some of you young ones are 68, enjoy the number.
When 70 hits I'm entering the Social Security fun, as I calculate and set the budget for the increase in income I am betting I live a long life.
My death I thought would have occured by now, between the avalanches, fires, gun fights😳, and twice breaking through the ice, my crashes, viruses, pneumonia and knife fights have kept me more alive than I would believe.
I no longer ride motorcycles on the road, in the dirt yes, I sold my hard tail Specialized last spring to keep myself from temptation and my girls tempt me by buying the super light weight electronic shifting Specialized that this one eye bad boy would enjoy enough to get myself killed
My kids or grandkids will be the death of me🕺
Literally what a way to go. Class live life unafraid, I had a young man that called me Dad murdered October 5th of last year, in front of Maverick on State and second South, I have watched his death three times on the Maverick security system, 15 rounds fired at him, 8 struck and they say 4 would have been fatal. The last five rounds were fired into him as he lay in the parking lot dying, 10 as he tried to run away in the outside lane of State Street.
I visited Farshad 4 times in jail before he would come up them stairs, he told me Gage was known by his terrible knife which none was found.
On Saturday on a jail visit I was told I cant use illegal means to communicate inside SALT LAKE COUNTY jail, tear the place down, full of black mold and we the tax payer refused the $500,000,000.00 pricetag to improve it. To visit anyone in jail is a chore, enough said
Tomorrow is May 7th, 6 years ago tomorrow I sat with my 3month old granddaughters killer, for 2 hours the West Valley Police placed him with me, 3 hours after he killed her, and yes he has his freedom and yes I spoke 6 words at his first court appearance, Release him, he will commit suicide, the words are still engrained in my mind, the prosecution added two words, If you, five minutes earlier. The judge released him three days later and he went home and raped.
My representative Craig Hall passed the Cody Brotherson Law the following legislative session and Kevin was not given freedom until he turned 21.
The Hell I raise is huge, I was trespassed trying to ask Kevin the killer questions in regards to the person he accused of killing Adalyns, her two year old brother. Yes I consider him a threat and I let him live, even with police giving me headaches. South Salt lake police chief change on February 1st of last year and Salt Lake Cities police chief color change are welcome by me Brown to Redd and an immediate closure through the summer of the Jordan River parkway will reveal much. Danielle is doing excellent running things in South Salt Lake.
So much to say about murder and punishment, and grief and action, after the death by stillbirth this morning, my nieces 2nd grand daughter will not see her expected birth tomorrow, the cesarian birth today leaves devastation.
Gawd I can cry, my tears burn, my tears are thankful tears, I have Adalyn's sister Athelia to enjoy her smile and energy daily, to have her nails done today was a welcome relief, that five year old is the sweetest little one, she connnects instantly with anyone.
I have many stories like Judge Kendall and his demise and The AP&P

Tom and Dave's deaths, I need to get off my phone to write these messages, proof reading should be required.
I will try commenting on these two passing and simply say one day it will be me, who will be left?
My thoughts are my 69 year old self will be so beat up and unable to see to land that it's wise I move on.🪜🤔
I spent some quality time with Tom at the reunion, got a photo I will post when I can get it off that broken phone and I'm saddened we did not get to spend some time together at the Bountiful gun range enjoying time together, hitting targets and smelling burnt gun powder. Yes my weapons are all 🔐 secure. Much to say about weapons and rights but for now I will simply say, they can get you killed. Pull my record up and see how many times I'm charged with a weapons violation and it's dismissed, I have never had a weapon confiscated that was not returned. Except when I was 18 and it was my bike lock the officer asked who I hit with it. Guess!
I enjoy getting together with all and enjoyed the lunch, in January.
Staying connected with you few is good to do, I do care how each of you are doing, my time is spent helping others in tough situations. Moving a lady and her mentally challenged brother from a Gang threat is one item I worked on today. Any safe apartments that takes a section 8 voucher is needed.
You men, ever sat in a nail salon? I have remodeled several and watched many technicians do their craft, today as I watched Athelia get hers done she asked me to get mine, I might, one day.
Les and Craig I hope things are well, and class as we go through the future, my challenge to each of us is to smile a little each day, my bucket list is empty long ago but if Huntington's is defeated as well as cancer and heart disease and all the other things that can bring an early exit from life, I could leave life smiling.
My skateboard does Ollie's my skis leave the ground often, my swimming I love in high mountain lakes but man Mead in three weeks has this 69er excited for the sore body it will give me.
Ride the ride, life cut short happens all to often.
I miss those who have no more tomorrows.

For those Classmates that were involved and played on the Skyline Football team as well as Basketball during our 3 years and those that might be interested; Coach Ron Haun passed away a few days ago ( SLC Tribune Obituaries) as well as a number of months ago, Head Coach Ken Schmidt. Incredible memories and great individuals

Responding to Charles Burnsides last post (#90).   I get a pedicure and manicure about every 4 to 6 weeks in the same salon that my wife goes to.  There are tons of men down here that get them.  It is a necessity for me to get the pedicure.  I just cannot bend like I used to.
